Spot welding
Spot welding is a type of welding that involves joining elements at several points, where a specific number of welds are created (usually between one and three). At Marxam Project, we provide comprehensive resistance welding services for companies from every industry. Our wide range of services guarantees that you will complete your entire project in one place. Take advantage of our services and experience cooperation with true professionals.

A welder is a person whose task is to join together metal, steel, cast iron and aluminum elements using the permanent connection method. A very important aspect in the welder’s work are manual skills, high patience and self-discipline during the welding process.
This is one of the most difficult and, until recently, the least appreciated professions. Not everyone can become a welder. Very often, and rightly so, welding is compared to artistic work. In addition to high manual skills, you need to have a very broad technical knowledge about the types of materials, the behavior of different types of elements and the behavior of the material in high temperature environments.

What is spot welding and what does it involve?
Spot welding is one of the resistance welding processes, which involves joining elements in several places, which can be called spots. This method uses electric current and pressure – two electrodes are pressed against the processed sheet metal, and a current is generated at the point of contact, which generates heat and melts the material. Up to 3 welds are then created.
Spot welding has 3 phases:
- Clamping – With the help of electrodes, the processed materials are pressed against each other, which allows them to be held in one place and minimize problems associated with their movement.
- Heating – The process of proper processing, where the material is subjected to the influence of temperature, which creates a liquid weld core.
- Cooling – Lowering the temperature in the processed material, which allows the weld to solidify and create a permanent connection.

Our Spot Welding Capabilities – Types of Welding
At Marxam Project, we provide a comprehensive range of spot welding services. Our welders allow for the use of alternative methods of joining metal elements. Resistance welding is one of the most popular techniques for joining thin-walled metals.
The use of capacitor welders allows for quick and easy mounting of fastening elements (pins, screws, pins) on the surface of metals.
Induction welding significantly reduces energy consumption, and consequently reduces the cost of manufacturing parts. This process significantly reduces the area of thermal action, which contributes to easier cleaning of joined areas. Induction welding technology allows for its automation, which makes the process repeatable and simpler (and therefore cheaper).
We offer the following types of welding:
- Resistance welding – A general method in which heat is generated at the point of contact using electrical resistance of materials. Current then flows to the processed elements, causing them to melt and then connect.
- Spot welding of sheets – A type of spot welding, specifically designed for sheet metal processing. Electrodes press the sheets at one point, after which the current acting on them melts and then connects them. Most often used to connect thin sheets of metal.
- Seam welding – A method classified as resistance welding, where the joint is created along the entire line of contact between two materials. Most often used to process elements over a longer area, e.g. pipes.
- Butt welding – Two ends of the processed elements are positioned opposite each other (buttwise) and connected together under the influence of current and pressure.
- Projection welding – When using this method, special protrusions (humps) are formed in one of the processed elements, where heat is concentrated during welding. Used for processing materials with unusual, uneven surfaces or for affecting a specific point.

Spot and induction welding process in our company
One of the forms of spot joining of metal elements is induction welding. Electric welding of this type is a process where electromagnetic induction is used. Marxam Project offers metal welding through induction joining, which guarantees a huge number of benefits for the implemented project:
- Induction joining allows for a real reduction in energy consumption, which translates into lower costs when creating details and minimizes the size of the area subjected to thermal action.
- Thanks to induction joining, the time needed to heat the joined elements is reduced, and this is an additional way to reduce the final price of the production process.
- Spot welding using electromagnetic induction guarantees much easier cleaning of places subjected to the welding process (which is very important when we have to perform, for example, nuts welding or pipes welding).
- Induction joining creates the possibility of automating activities - production is characterized by a high degree of repeatability and simplicity, which means a significant reduction in the final costs.
Induction welding is often used in the pipe industry. This type of welding is usually used to join elements made of aluminum, low-carbon and low-alloy steel, and non-magnetic and magnetic stainless steel.

Frequently Asked Questions
What materials are best suited for spot welding?
Metals best suited for spot welding include aluminum, low-carbon and low-alloy steel, and non-magnetic and magnetic stainless steel.
What is the difference between spot welding and other types of welding?
The fundamental difference between heat spot and other types of welding is that in the welding process we only join two elements together, while spot welding also means preheating the material and pressing the parts to be joined together.
What different welding services do you provide?
At Marxam Project, we provide a comprehensive range of resistance welding services – spot, line, butt, or projection. If you also need other services in your project (e.g. CNC turning, CNC milling, plasma cutting, sheet metal bending, etc.) – let us know and we will adapt to you.
What parameters affect spot welding?
Spot welding is affected by parameters such as welding current intensity, electrode pressure and current flow time. Our experts know exactly how to ensure the highest durability and quality of the final product.
What is the maximum thickness of sheet metal that you can resistance weld?
At Marxam Project, we can resistance weld all sheets with a thickness between 0,2 – 3 mm. Contact us for more details about the service.
